Location: Courses will be run in Madrid, Somosaguas, Alcobendas, Las Rozas, and Alcala de Henares. The vast majority of positions will be based in the Young Learner centre in Madrid, and in Somosaguas (also YLs).
Need the teacher by: July 2010. Although some vacancies exist for August and September, the vast majority of work will be in the month of July.
Minimum experience required: : Two years' teaching experience post qualification.
Description of the academy: The British Council operates in 110 countries worldwide and has teaching centres in 53 countries. We build mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and other countries and increase appreciation of the UK's creative ideas and achievements. In Spain, the British Council undertakes a wide variety of cultural activities and exchanges and manages a large examinations programme, a school and over a dozen teaching centres - seven of which are in the Madrid area.
Conditions of employment: Timetables depend on different centres' needs, generally between 12.5 -25 hours teaching per week. Summer work may include morning/afternoon or afternoon/early evening work, Monday to Friday. We do not teach Saturdays during the summer months.
Applicants must:

Have a relevant teaching qualification*
Have 2 years' post-qualification teaching experience.
Be native speaker of English or equivalent ability.
Be EU citizens or possess a valid Spanish work permit (Student visas are not valid).
Have a first degree or equivalent.
*e.g. (UK) CELTA; CELTYL; Cert. TESOL; PGCE (TESOL+QTS); BEd./PGCE (+ QTS & 2 years' TEFL/TESOL teaching) or equivalent qualification from another country. Courses should have a minimum of 100 hours face to face TEFL tuition plus 5-6 hours of observed teaching practice to a minimum class size of 6 students at two distinct levels. Courses should be moderated by an external examiner and accredited by a recognised authority e.g. in the UK by Cambridge UCLES, Trinity College, RSA or equivalent in other countries.
